It is autobiographic, an expression about a recent period of 6 months in my life. The title has to be taken literally. Starting with the diagnosis of a serious disease, based on a small pain. Pain has many dimensions and layers. It can explode from little tickles, or slowly grow from a slightly uneasy feeling into an unbearable state. The hospital, the surgeries, the brain stroke, the infusions, the injuries just by laying flat on a bed. Not only the physical gradations of pain, also the mental side of pain is at stake. Being in a lame state, almost totally dependent of exterior help for simple things. Mind-cracking hallucinations for days, caused by the brain stroke. Being in a recovery hospital, and seeing fellow patients die during that stay. At the end the coming home again, still alive and kickin'. But the harmonic situation has odd elements to cope with for the rest of time. Traces and scarfs.
